What Is Vertical Tillage?
The term vertical tillage has become a rather confusing and contentious one for both farmers and equipment suppliers. Developed in the 1990s, VT was first intended to mean tillage ahead of planting equipment without the creation of horizontal stratifications. It is intended to improve soil health and water filtration, as well as prevent corrosion. VT methods aim not to turn the soil too much and to keep residue on the surface, where it can protect the soil. This is achieved using small, forward-facing discs that limit soil inversion.
What Are Coulters?
Coulters are mounted on some plows, just ahead of the plowshare. They cut an 18cm deep furrow into the ground (this varies depending on soil quality). It softens the soil, making way for the plow to undercut the furrow more easily. Originally designed as straight, knife-like instruments, they now mostly take the form of flat, rotating discs.
Long-lasting vertical tillage blades from Gaber Distributors have a reputation for durability and performance that starts with boron construction and ends with satisfaction in the field.
