• Harrow Tines
Spring tine harrows enable farmers to reseed well-worn pastures, rejuvenating them for renewed grass yield. They are still favoured by many farmers looking to take a cost-effective and organic approach. Although disc harrows are often regarded as the standard these days, many farmers still choose to make use of tined harrows, which is why Gaber continues to supply high-quality tines.
Gaber harrow tines are made of oil-tempered spring wire. All tines are cold rolled and heat stress relieved to eliminate breakage and vastly improve service life.
Factors To Consider When Buying Harrow Tines
There is still a lot to be said for the humble tine harrow. They are extremely effective at smoothing out plowed fields and clearing residue left behind after a harvest. Despite their powerful simplicity, harrow tines actually differ from one another in several ways which can affect their quality and effectiveness. Keep the following in mind when buying harrows or replacing tines:
-
Tine diameter and length: Longer, thicker tines clear more residue and allow for a more aggressive approach. Shorter, thinner ones are less aggressive but leave a smoother, better-finished field.
-
Rows and spacing: The teeth or tines there are on a harrow, the more work it can do. Eight bars of tines will produce well over 50% more work in a single pass than three bars.
-
Tooth angle: The closer a harrow tine is adjusted to the vertical, the more aggressive the harrowing action. Adjusting the tines upwards between 90 and 45 degrees, decreases the aggressiveness and clears less residue.
Please note that some Gaber part numbers are compatible with more than one OEM number.
