Oil Bath Bearings
Look no further than Gaber Distributors for strong and sturdy disc harrow and vertical till oil bath bearings and components. Every unit is factory tested and built with two tapered roller bearings that ensure long term top performance. Duo-cone seals preserve critical moving parts inside each housing by keeping contaminants out and lubricant in. Superior pricing and availability means that your first choice in oil bath bearings and parts is also the easiest choice.
How Do Oil Bath Bearing Systems Work?
The oil-bath system is a lubrication system that employs two back-to-back roller bearings that operate sealed with Duo Cone seals. It is a much more efficient alternative to the more conventional grease lubrication system. A gang shaft passes through a sealed, interior axle, and the bearings and seals are mounted over the axle, without making direct contact with the gang shaft. There is a half-spool on either end of the interior axle. During operation, pressure is applied to the half-spools and, in turn, to the Duo-Cone seals. The system ensures continued smooth rotation of the gang - and thus the continuous operation of the plow or cultivator. As the name suggests, the gang shaft is constantly bathed in oil within the sealed bearing system, keeping it lubricated throughout its operation. What Oil is Used in Oil Bath Systems
Most oil bath systems for tillage equipment use 90W gear oil. This oil is indicated for use under conditions of extreme pressure and limited-slip differentials. It is also best for use in colder climates - though not exclusively. The film it forms around axles and gang shafts is extremely durable and almost impervious to extreme temperatures.
